Hip Hop centered record labels have been known to incorporate a female voice into the crew in order to add a balance of femininity. Bad Boy had Faith Evans. Murder Inc had Ashanti. Now Jet Life has Mary Gold. After appearing on the collective's Red Eye mixtape released in August, the provocative New Orleans performer has officially signed with the imprint founded by fellow Crescent City native Curren$y.

“Mary….man, she’s just another level,” says Curren$y. “I can’t describe Mary Gold to you, I have to show you Mary Gold.”

On the BitTorrent released Red Eye, the new “First Lady of Jet Life” teamed up with Spitta for the remix to her debut single “Prayer.” The original version of the song featured an erotic black and white video that generated significant indie buzz for the self-described “nudist, cunt and tree hugger.” Gold is currently in the process of completing her first mixtape Sex Hormone’d Druggie as member of the Jet Life roster.

“I first was introduced to Mary thru a link that she tweeted to me,” says Jet Life President and artist manager Mousa Hamden. “One word could describe her – captivating.”
