News: The 50 Greatest Custom Sneakers of All-Time

Once a niche segment of the hobby, customization has evolved into one of the pillars of sneaker collecting over the years. No longer are artists just painting kicks — they’re stripping down the materials and recreating silhouettes with an entirely new vision. Brands like Nike and adidas have even commissioned top customizers to work on official projects.

Further validation has been given by athletes and entertainers, who have showcased customs on some of the biggest platforms. LeBron James even wore a pair of 'Iron Man' Nike LeBron 10s by Mache when practicing for the NBA Finals in 2013.

From the early styling of Methamphibian, SBTG and Sekure D to fresh faces like JBF, Revive and Dank, custom sneakers have come a long way — here’s the 50 best. CLICK HERE

When the Nike Foamposite One first dropped in 1997, it was like nothing anyone had ever seen before but people wore it in some impressive performances. The sleek $180 shoe had no Nike branding on the upper, save a small Swoosh near the toe, and the synthetic upper and prominent carbon plate gave the shoe a decidedly futuristic look, one that many sneaker designers still strive to achieve.

News: 10 Celebrities Caught With Fake Air Jordans

Though they may have a little extra income at their disposal, celebrities are prone to buying fake sneakers like anybody else. With a need for ego-feeding exclusivity and locked up schedules, the famous don't always make informed decisions or keep an eye on what their stylists are sending their way. As a result, they're often shipped outright knockoffs or flawed early release pairs from China.

The issue came to a head last week, when sneakerheads challenged Jim Jones on the authenticity of his 'Ring Night' Air Jordan 11 Ray Allen PE. Only two pairs were produced by Jordan Brand for Ray Allen, but a healthy amount of replicas are currently listed on eBay Jim Jones owns one of those replicas, but seemed poised to prove that his connections run deeper than those of even the biggest non-famous collectors. Like most celebs when they're caught with fake product, Jones labeled naysayers as "haters" who are "mad because they don't have them." Right.

But don't fret, Capo. You're not the only celebrity out here stunting in fake Jordans - these are the 10 worst instances.

News: ORGANISE YOUR SNEAKER COLLECTION WITH SNUPPS

Snupps is the latest app that helps sneakerheads create an online inventory of their ever-growing collection with a clever platform that also doubles as a social media community. When your sneaker stockpile starts to get out of hand, sometimes it’s difficult to sit down and stocktake all the sneakers you have. With Snupps, it makes this otherwise tedious process a breeze; it’s as simple as taking a picture of your sneaks, uploading it into Snupps and organising it all on your digital shelves. And as the only thing sneakerheads are more obsessed with other than shoes is flaunting said shoes online, Snupps have created a community for their users to share, discuss and sell their uploaded gear, creating a buzzing ecosystem that currently has over 50,000 active users adding and following sneakers. You can share your collections to other social media channels, bringing your Snupps shelves to all your friends, and unlike other similar platforms like Instagram, you can choose to keep some items private, so you won’t be shamed into excluding your collection of Sketchers from your inventory.

Snupps is the perfect way to finally organise your sneakers like you said you would, while making it enjoyable in the process. Available now for free on iOS and Android devices.

10 Sneaker Boutiques That Have Awesome Clothing Lines

Sneakers and clothes go hand-in-hand. The sneaker boutique has always been a meeting ground for these two worlds, and it's the place where a lot of sneakerheads first explored their interest in how their complete kit looks.

A lot of boutiques carry a lengthy list of desirable brands from streetwear, menswear, and high-end labels. These shops, though, have also dabbled in creating their own clothes. They've launched their own in-house clothing brands that can be found at the shop, and, increasingly, other locations.

When we discuss sneaker boutiques having clothing lines, we're referring to stuff that's actually branded with the shop's name or designated as the boutique's label — not clothing lines that are ventures by those who own the stores (although those are great). Some of these lines are really good, too. To get a look at the ones you need to check out, here are 10 Sneaker Boutiques That Have Awesome Clothing Lines. CLICK HERE

Top 10 'Triple Black' Sneakers of 2014 So Far

Black is the new black, apparently. All-ebony sneaks have always been popular with street heads who are forced to wear suits in their jobs, security guards, and general staunch dudes going about their daily business. Pair them with a murdered-out wardrobe and they can look downright dastardly (in a dope way) and help you appreciate a shoe silhouette in its purest form. In recent weeks, Nike in particular have unleashed a stack of ‘Triple Black’ renditions of some of their most loved models for no apparent rhyme or reason. All-black shoes typically get great feedback from our readers, so Sneaker Freaker isn’t complaining about the deluge, in fact, they’re gonna show you the 10 most popular new releases the Top 10 Triple Black Sneakers of 2014 So Far. 10 Ways Kanye West Changed Sneakers Forever

You can't deny the impact Kanye West has had on sneaker culture. Even before the release of his Nike Air Yeezys, he was influencing sneakerheads without the help of social media (besides KanyeLive circa 2007-2010, of course). He made us pay attention to the kicks he wore at shows. He made it cool to wear unbranded, obscure international labels. And he even made sneakerheads step up their fashion game. Anything 'Ye did on the footwear front created sparks, and once he partnered with Nike and Louis Vuitton, his influence ignited a wildfire. You can expect nothing less once his collection with adidas is officially revealed. Until that chapter in Kanye's footwear history begins, here are 10 Ways Kanye West Changed Sneakers ForeverCLICK HERE

New Balance 574 “Passport Pack”

Following their first sighting earlier this month, the travel inspired New Balance 574 “Passport Pack” is starting to hit retailers. The uppers on all four pairs in this pack are made up of a thick mesh, with interesting accents of tumbled leather on the back tab, and patent leather on the rear panel. With a $75 price tag, even if some collectors and sneaker fans have yet to get their feet wet with New Balance, it’s fairly easy to justify a pick up of at least one pair in this pack. Pick these up today from shops like Feature.

Adidas Officially Confirms Its Partnership With Kanye West

It's official, Kanye has taken his talents to Adidas!!!

Via Complex:

Before, the venture was all but official after Kanye went on Hot 97′s Angie Martinez show and said “I took the adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.”

But when Angie pressed on whether this deal was official, Ye replied with a vague, “Whatever is official, non-official, official—what y’all gonna see is I’m gonna be the Tupac of product.”

Well, now it is official. A statement from adidas outlines why Kanye was brought into the company’s family, and the big plans that will come to fruition in the next year. The full statement reads:

“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”

Looks like Yeezy season will continue into the new year.

Kanye has touched on why he decided to sever ties with Nike, saying that his creative freedom was inhibited, and that he was refused royalties on the mega-popular Air Yeezy sneaker. But his recent “visionary streams of consciousness” have focused on the past and been vague on what’s next. With adidas making it official, and the deal reportedly erasing any financial concerns, it appears that the path is clear for Kanye to indulge his fans on what the future holds in terms of him achieving his designer aspirations.
