Exposing Rats On Instagram

According to Mashable, an Instagram account with nearly 7,900 followers was created with intent to expose and intimidate violent crime witnesses in Philadelphia, Penn. The anonymous user posted more than 150 photos and outed more than 30 witnesses since February, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The "rats215" account was removed from the site Thursday night. NOLA TWERKING ADDED TO THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY

Mixmag credits Miley's VMA performance, Diplo's Instagram, and Major Lazer's live show for the widespread of twerking in 2013; but of course doesn't say where it started. Wikipedia, while it does credit the New Orleans bounce scene, fails to mention many of the pioneers of this sassy dance move like, TT Tucker, DJ Jimmy, Fila Phil,  Lady Red, the late Warren Mayes, and many more. Now I'm not taking anything away from DJ Jubilee, I'm simply putting it out there that twerking existed well before Jub starting rocking St Thomas block parties,  high school dances, and house parties.

DJ Jubilee compiled a series of popular dance moves in the song "Do The Jubilee All", which added steam to the New Orleans Bounce scene as a whole. Club Rumors was wall to wall twerkers on any given Friday, and Penny Land game room in the quarter would overflow onto Royal Street with girls twerking anytime a car passed playing music by these New Orleans neighborhood superstars. Twerking is everywhere because of modern artist like Big Freedia carrying on the traditions, and the tourist who visit our great city bringing it back to their hometown.  Yes even before Diplo's "Express Yourself", and Miley Cyrus' twerk video.
