The Best Retro Sneakers of 2014 (So Far)

We live in a culture obsessed with things from the past. For sneakerheads, that means the re-issue of sneakers from yesteryear. For better or worse, sneaker brands consistently release models from their back archives and keep people waiting to see what's going to be rummaged from the dust. 2014 has been no different.

There are models that make us scratch our heads and say, "Why did that get retroed?" There are also plenty of sneakers Complex were glad got re-released. And, surprise, they're not just '90s basketball sneakers, either. To see what Complex has been waiting for that's released somewhere between January and the end of June, check out The Best Retro Sneakers of 2014 (So Far) CLICK HERE

Alice Coachman First Black Woman To Win Olympic Gold Dies in Georgia

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- The first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal, Alice Coachman Davis, has died at age 90 in south Georgia.

Davis' daughter, Evelyn Jones, says her mother died early Monday morning in Albany. Vera Williams, a secretary at Meadows Funeral Home in Albany, says Meadows will be handling Davis' memorial service but plans haven't been finalized yet.

Davis won Olympic gold in the high jump at the 1948 games in London. She was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 2004.

Davis attended Tuskegee University and won 25 national track and field championships - including 10 consecutive high jump titles.

She was the only American woman to win a gold medal at the 1948 games, and retired at age 25 after winning Olympic gold.

Video: LeBron James Going Back to Cleveland

LeBron James pens an article via Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkis saying, "My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball" explaining his reasons for returning to his home town. The 29 year old forward details Miami as a sort of training ground, and has no regrets about his decision to play there. Grateful to the HEAT organization for molding an overall better person, and player, LeBron goes on to discuss his goals in leadership:

"I think I can help Kyrie Irving become one of the best point guards in our league. I think I can help elevate Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters. And I can’t wait to reunite with Anderson Varejao, one of my favorite teammates."

According to the article, there will be no press conference or celebratory coverage. "King James" as fans affectionately refer to the player, is ready to get right down to business. HEAT owner Micky Arison expressed his disappointment on Twitter.

I am shocked & disappointed in today's news. However I will never forget what Lebron brought us for 4 years. Thanks for memories @KingJames — Micky Arison (@MickyArison) July 11, 2014

New York Remembers Graffiti Legend Jason "DG" Wulf

42 year old Queens, New York Graffiti Artist Jason Wulf, affectionately known as DG, was killed last week at 25th Street Station in Sunset Park. . Police made the discovery just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. Some sources speculate DG may have been tagging, or preparing to; while others say he would have never gone out alone on the third rail to tag at night. As the heart-wrenching mystery unfolds, one thing is for certain - DG was loved, and well respected. Even from afar, many people grew up admiring movements like DG's New Wave Crew, imitating breaking moves, and becoming artists in modeled after such legends. When the news broke on social media, hundreds of people referenced the 80's classic film "Beat Street" for its' tragic familiarity. I hope we as a society show that we appreciate true hip hop culture more, and pay respect to these artists when they are here to physically receive it. Our prayers of comfort go out to family and friends.
