New Balance 574 “Rugby Pack” – Holiday 2013 Releases

Sneaker News sends information on the Holiday 2013 Releases of the New Balance 574 "Rugby Pack".  None of the packs that have released since have matched the sheer number of last fall’s ‘Backpack Pack’, but the New Balance 574 has enjoyed its share of themed collections.  The one that is perhaps closest to the Backpacks in its composition is the ‘Rugby Pack’, which brings forth two new mens colorways today.

Burgundy and blue pairs add navy and white accents to their twill uppers and include the tongue tags and insoles that released on the first Rugby 574s back in June.  You can see both pairs in more photos below, then cop yours from New Balance retailers like Politics.

Vegan Recipes: Buffalo Cauliflower

Source: Kimatni
1 large head of cauliflower
3/4 bottle of Wing-Time Buffalo Sauce
1 cup + 2 Tbsp non-sweetened, plain almond milk
3/4 cup chickpea flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp curry powder
2 Tbsp nutritional yeast

Preheat the oven to 450°F.

Lightly spray a large non-stick baking sheet with oil.

Separate/chop the cauliflower into florets.

Combine the flour, spices and nutritional yeast in a bowl and stir until well combined.

Coat a handful of cauliflower pieces in soymilk and then with the flour mixture. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until crispy.

While the cauliflower is in the oven, heat the Wing-Time sauce in a medium sauce pan over low heat. Whisk in 2 Tbsp of almond milk.

When the cauliflower is looking crispy, turn it with a wooden spoon and heat the oven to broil. Allow the cauliflower to broil with the oven open for 5-7 minutes or until beginning to brown. Pull it out of the oven and place it in a large bowl. Pour the hot sauce mixture over it and toss to coat.

Serve immediately!

Kanye West Flips Out On Sway During Radio Interview (Video)

If you haven't heard about the interview Sway had with Kanye West here it is...One thing it proves is that you can have a misunderstanding, talk about it, apologize and move on!!!

via XXL:

Kanye took to Shade 45 earlier this afternoon to talk with Sway about the tour and the fashion industry, among other things. When Kanye began talking about how he’s been shunned from the industry—a common theme of his recent rants—Sway then posed the question, “Why don’t you empower yourself…and do it yourself? ” The question set Kanye off. He began yelling at Sway and telling him that he hasn’t been doing his research and doesn’t know anything about the topic. Eventually, Sway told Kanye to calm down and that “ain’t gotta turn up” and that their conversation wasn’t a “fucking show.”

After a couple minutes of yelling on both sides, both guys calmed down. Kanye eventually apologized and said he didn’t mean disrespect. It’s hard to tell what exactly about Sway’s question irked Kanye so bad, but ‘Ye did seem to hint that he’s lost a lot of money—a $13 million figure was thrown out—on trying to start his own fashion line. If that’s the case, his anger may be justifiable.

Police Find Stockpile Of Guns While Searching George Zimmerman’s Home

George Zimmerman the former neighborhood watchman who was acquitted in the murder trial of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, was arrested last week after allegedly pointing a shotgun in the face of his girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe. Check out what the Police found while searching Zimmerman's home.

via This is 50:

The 30-year old was charged with battery, criminal mischief and felony aggravated assault with a weapon in the case. He was released the day after his arrest after posting $9000 bail.

TMZ reports that a subsequent search of the home Zimmerman shared with Scheibe turned up a stockpile of weapons belonging to him (see pic above).

Police found an AR-15 assault rifle, 3 handguns, a pocket knife and a Kel-Tec shotgun, the same one he’s accused of pointing at Scheibe. No word on if all of the guns were obtained legally.

Scheibe kicked him out of her home after last week’s incident and at this point it’s not known where Zimmerman is living.

Born Sam Karimi, Ceas is a spokesman for Montreal urban site Mook-Life.com, as well as founder of his own movement, REAL LIFE. Ceas believes that every single object, person, place or theme can be rapped about in an interesting way. "It's all about the context" he says. Ceas has done R&B-flavored collaborations with the Uness and Crime In The City collective (click to listen) as well as live interpretations of soulful cuts on hisCoolest Cats tape (click to listen). Videos have already been released for "10.5" (click to watch), "Mook Life Pt. 1" (click to watch) and "M.O.E." (click to watch). "Faceless is my way of saying we're all just numbers," says Ceasrock. "It's that feeling you get when you watch everybody go to work on the train in the morning. All these people have a story, but who cares? In the first verse I speak on my own story as an emcee, and how being relatively unknown is shaping me and the decisions I make. The second verse addresses the female population that is faced with a double standard of expectations on the daily. Both verses end with words of encouragement to keep it moving in this rat race we call life. The video is meant to symbolize this feeling of censorship through different depictions of facelessness." MALKOVICH (@malkovichmusic) - "GREAT EXPECTATIONS"

DOWNLOAD HERE
Irangeles (Iran/Los Angeles) lyricist Malkovich presents the music video for "Great Expectations," written and recorded in New York City, New Orleans, Atlanta and Los Angeles. The rugged vibe Malkovich projects reminds me of good time in hip hop when snakes were few, and not everybody was lost. You can hear solid determination in his flow; plus he's always speaking on something real. The visual takes you on a wavy journey to accompany the wordplay. Mazzi of S.O.U.L. Purpose did an excellent job shooting this. I love all the different angels and how the scenery is captured; and the edit by J Spealz couldn't have been any better. They shot this video in Queens, New York City. Download the "Great Expectations" IP here, and connect with Malkovich for more grimy, thought provoking wordplay on malkovichmusic.com.

New Renaissance (@_NewRenaissance) - Pearls To The Swine ( Produced by Chase N. Ca$he )

New Renaissance's Cypher appeals more to my ears than any club song or single on the radio. "Pearls To The Swine" produced by 504 legend Chase N. Ca$he, and 2-cent music features members SOL GALEANO, Stefan, Marz the Superior, Ka$h Akbar, and Luke Saint John. Excellent wordplay, production, and most significantly a very powerful message. These young energies are so bright and alive with truth that you're compelled to run it back at least once or twice. This word art flows seamlessly onto a perfect audio canvas with clear respect and appreciation for creative legends before them. Marz the Superior and Stefan will be performing on Sunday at House of the Young. Make sure to go out and support these positive vibes. Ivy, Da Beatminerz, Roddy Rod, Dischoe, Marc Nfinit (True School), and J Soul and The Mowery Boys. The album is full of colorful hip hop content, and nostalgic skits that seemingly serve ears with the purpose of reminding us what true hip hop is. Marble Cake's release comes on the heels of the music video for "Took Control" which is a must see as well. The !llmind-produced first single features guest appearances from Tajai of Souls of Mischief and singer pHoenix Pagliacci. Watch it here.

Sean has performed in London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Germany, Aruba and more. He’s performed alongside artists like The Roots, Pete Rock, Little Brother, EPMD, and Kid Capri, and is a member of the True School Corporation, which is run by Grammy award-winning producer 9th Wonder. Sean sums up Marble Cake's genesis in one line from his song "Foundation": “...hours, days, weeks, months, #*&% it took years / for me to be heard and gain respect from my peers / but the way that it appears I affected your ears...” "This album was a long time in the making," he says. "From phone calls back and forth with Mr. Walt to email exchanges with !llmind, to face-to-face beat-picking sessions with Khrysis, I made sure the foundation was strong, before bringing more color to the canvas with my rhymes." Taraji Henson: Shocking ‘Person of Interest’ Episode

Say it ain't so...Taraji Henson is the reason many has watched the show the past 2 years!!!

Web Pro News Reports:

Warning: Spoiler Alert for fans of the hit television show, Person of Interest, unless already up-to-date on episodes.

Taraji P. Henson has brought a raw depth to her superhero of a cop character, Joss Carter, for the CBS drama, Person of Interest. Fans have followed the character for two and a half seasons; however, unfortunately this is about to change. It is with heavy hearts that fans watched the most recent show where Carter died in action performing her job as well as being self-sacrificing in the process.

When questioned by Entertainment Weekly about the process for filming the last scene, Taraji Henson responded candidly. “The mood on set was bittersweet, even with the crew. We laugh and we joke, but at the end of the laughs, it was a sigh. I was trying to keep the spirits up, so all night I was cracking jokes and not hugging and getting too emotional with everyone,” Henson said.

Henson was not completely shocked to hear of her character’s demise, and explained the expectations she had when initially signing on for the role. “I always knew that we would have a beginning, a middle and an end. You don’t tell the audience “Hey, she’s not gonna last!” because that’s the whole surprise element, but that’s what’s so innovative about the show and that’s why I joined. We always knew we would do two, maybe three seasons,” she said.

Fans have been noticeably upset at the loss for the show, and have taken time to share their views on Twitter.

Henson explained her personal obligations for exiting the show when interviewed by TV Guide. “I like to leave people wanting more. I don’t like to be settled. I don’t think I’m at a place in my life where I can be on a television show for seven years. Movies are still calling me. At my age, that’s a lot because once that movie phone stops ringing, that’s it,” Henson said.

News: Google To Pay $17 Million Fine For Secretly Following You Online

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman reported Monday that Google has agreed to pay $17 million to settle charges that it secretly tracked some consumers’ activities on the Web, even after promising such tracking had been blocked.

Huffington Post Reports:

Attorneys general in 28 states had alleged that Google violated state consumer protection laws and computer privacy laws by not telling users of Apple’s Safari browser that it was bypassing privacy settings in order to show them targeted advertisements.

“Consumers should be able to know whether there are other eyes surfing the web with them,” Schneiderman said in a statement. “By tracking millions of people without their knowledge, Google violated not only their privacy, but also their trust.”

The case stems from Google’s method of displaying targeted ads by using “cookies,” or small files installed on web browsers that create invisible records of online browsing habits. Google had said on its website that Safari’s privacy settings could prevent Google from tracking these cookies. But a story in the Wall Street Journal last year revealed that Google was able to go around those settings by exploiting a loophole in Safari’s browser, and then track users across websites in the company’s DoubleClick ad network. For example, a Safari user who visited websites on how to get out of debt could then be served Google ads on other sites offering them debt relief services.

“We work hard to get privacy right at Google and have taken steps to remove the ad cookies, which collected no personal information, from Apple’s browsers,” the company said in a statement. “We’re pleased to have worked with the state attorneys general to reach this agreement.”

In a separate case brought last year by the Federal Trade Commission, Google agreed to pay a $22.5 million fine over similar charges that it bypassed privacy settings in the Safari browser. That fine was the largest settlement ever obtained by the commission.

Barneys Cancels Launch Party For Jay Z’s Holiday Collection

On Friday November 15th it was announced that Jay Z would move forward with his planned holiday collection at Barneys New York amidst calls for the rapper to drop his affiliation with the store...Stop the press!!! Say it ain't so!!! It seems that the scheduled launch party for the collaboration has been cancelled.

XXL Reports:

Women’s Wear Daily is reporting that a fundraiser for The Shawn Carter Foundation scheduled for Wednesday night night, was cancelled this afternoon. An official public statement by Barneys New York has not been issued but WWD reports that there could be a statement released sometime this afternoon.

The party’s cancellation comes after a wave of public backlash regarding two separate incidents of alleged racial profiling occurred at the company’s flagship store in New York. Jay Z—who has been preparing to release his BNY SCC Gallery and Collection with Barneys—has come under fire recently for his continued association with the company. On Friday, a press statement released on his Life + Times blog announced that the collection is going forward but now with 100% of the proceeds from retail going to The Shawn Carter Foundation. The press release also announced that the Brooklyn rapper will be undertaking a “leadership role” on a specially convened council formed to address racial profiling with the company.

THINGS MEN SHOULDN'T DO (LEXISLAUGHS)

News: Just 1.5 Percent Of ‘Stop-And-Frisk’ Arrests Resulted In Jail Or Prison Sentence

According to an in-depth analysis released by the New York Attorney General’s Office. Only 1.5 percent of Stop-and-Frisk arrests, the discriminatory policy that racially profiles Black and Brown men on the streets of New York City, has resulted in a jail or prison sentence.

“My office’s analysis of the city’s stop-and-frisk practices has broad implications for law enforcement, both in New York City and across the state,” Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement. “It’s our hope that this report – the first of its kind – will advance the discussion about how to fight crime without overburdening our institutions or violating equal justice under the law”.

Even more telling, only 0.1 percent of all arrests under the policy led to a conviction for a violent crime, a point that was the linchpin of former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg‘s rationalization for keeping the policy in place.

“There is just no question that stop-question-frisk has saved countless lives,” Bloomberg said. “And we know that most of the lives saved, based on the statistics, have been black and Hispanic young men. “It’s worth remembering that as recently as 1990, New York City averaged more than six murders a day,” the mayor added. “Today, we’ve driven that down to less than one murder a day”.

As previously reported by NewsOne, U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled that the New York Police Department deliberately violated the civil rights of tens of thousands of New Yorkers with its Stop-and-Frisk policy, and that an independent monitor is needed to oversee major changes. Scheindlin cited Trayvon Martin’s death in a lengthy opinion that infuriated Bloomberg. New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, the architect of Stop-and-Frisk, insisted that the policy saves lives and the city risks a resurgence in crime if it is no longer in effect. Kelly also said that more Black people are stopped because more Black people commit crimes:

“You have to apply a formula of sorts. ‘Do the stops comport with the description given by the victims of perpetrators of violent crime?’ And our stops certainly do,” Kelly said. “Nobody wants to be stopped…we have engaged in a major training evolution for several years, focusing on these issues, to do these stops with courtesy, do them with respect”, he added.

In a shocking ruling on October 31, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said Judge Scheindlin’s ruling will be stayed pending the outcome of an appeal by the city. She was also thrown off of the case due to allegations that interviews she gave during the trial called her impartiality into question.

After Jay Z’s Barneys Decision, Mega Retailers Unveil Big NY Plan

With multiple racial profiling cases against the high-end retailer Barney's still mounting this week a handful of popular stores are expected to unite this week in New York to discuss big topics including racial profiling. This is on the heels of Jay Z deciding to stick with Barney's which caused mixed reactions from the masses.

Sohh:

According to reports, clothing outlets ranging from Lord & Taylor to Barneys New York will meet Friday (November 22) to discuss big topics including racial profiling.

Major retailers will gather Nov. 22 at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church at 7 West 55th Street here to discuss such topics as racial profiling, loss prevention and store operations. The forum will be cohosted by the Retail Council of New York State and the New York Metropolitan Retailing Association. Retailers such as Macy’s Inc., Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus Group, Lord & Taylor, Saks Inc. and Bloomingale’s confirmed to WWD they are planning to send representatives to the meeting, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A spokeswoman for Neiman’s said Thursday of the upcoming meeting, “People are coming from New York and Dallas. We believe in the goals that they are trying to achieve.” (WWD)

Heading into the weekend, Young Hov issued a public statement to the masses regarding his decision to stay with Barneys.

“In the past several weeks two separate investigations were launched as a result of the wrongful detention of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips. My team has been privy to the status of the Barneys third party consultant investigation. In continuing our research, we also contacted the New York State Attorney General’s office for the status of their investigation into both Barneys and Macy’s. Those findings are not yet available. While I await the findings of the Attorney General’s Office, I have agreed to move forward with the launch of BNY SCC collection under the condition that I have a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling. I am in a unique position to use my voice to affect change to this disturbing issue. The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping that someone addresses the problem. I will not leave the outcome to others. I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on.” (Life & Times)

Boxing Main Event: Kendrick Lamar and TDE vs GQ Magazine

According to AllHipHop.com and a host of other media outlets buzzing around the web, Kendrick Lamar and his team are calling out GQ for the use of racial overtones in their cover story. The popular "Men of the Year" issue portrayed images that were "not accurate and felt biased," says Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith.
GQ editor-in-chief, Jim Nelson seems baffled by the upset.
“Kendrick Lamar is one of the most talented new musicians to arrive on the scene in years. That’s the reason we chose to celebrate him, wrote an incredibly positive article declaring him the next King of Rap, and gave him our highest honor: putting him on the cover of our Men of the Year issue. I’m not sure how you can spin that into a bad thing, and I encourage anyone interested to read the story and see for themselves. We were mystified and sorely disappointed by Top Dawg’s decision to pull him at the last minute from the performance he had promised to give. The real shame is that people were deprived of the joy of seeing Kendrick perform live. I’m still a huge fan.”
Here's the thing: America is not accustomed to young African descendants being so outspoken on the rebuttal with power companies like GQ. Generally, the excitement, and appreciation would over shadow any other feelings I guess. Well not this time. Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith says they can't go for that.

"The interview portrayed him and his company in a negative light and he won’t stand for it. To say he was ‘surprised at our discipline’ is completely disrespectful … Kendrick deserved to be accurately documented. The racial overtones immediately reminded everyone of a time in hip-hop that was destroyed by violence, resulting in the loss of two of our biggest stars [Tupac and B.I.G.] … As a result of this misrepresentation, I pulled Kendrick from his performance at GQ’s annual Man Of The Year party. While we think it’s a tremendous honor to be named as one of the Men Of The Year, these lazy comparisons and offensive suggestions are something we won’t tolerate.”

Air Jordan “Stay True Lab5″ Customs by PKZUNIGA

Sneaker News sends information regarding the Air Jordan 3Lab5 was a sneaker that got pretty far from the standard set of Air Jordan 5 colorways. Then again, the custom scene has sort of amended that by imagining pairs a bit closer to the original DNA of the sneaker. This one for example sports a white/black/fired red combination, one that would have to imagine would be at least as celebrated as the retail version, if not more so. Continue reading to see a full set of angles and then hit up PKZUNIGA on Instagram if you like what you see....Enjoy the views!!!.
